Drawing Club Week 4

All done. Theme was SUPERHERO this week. Ho, THE TIME TRAVELIN' REDNECK was born! Sketch on bottom, painting on top. What a learning experience this thing was!!!

Drawing Club Week 3

Yes, I was a slacker and didn't submit for week two. But I made up for it by exerting myself for this week's theme, FILM NOIR. Really had a ton of fun with it. Very tricky though, and very humbling; I thought it'd be a breeze without color, yet I could not come up with a solid mid-ground environment worth showing. I ran into a lot of perspective issues, lighting issues...anything with light on it was distracting from the character(s), which I did not want. Then I tried using shadows, and that didn't feel right either. I'll keep at it, and hopefully we'll see a more fleshed-out environment behind this guy soon.

Drawing Club Week 1

My drawing(s) for this week's drawing club posting. Kind of forgot about the posting until the day it was happening (today), so these were a bit rushed...55 min total, on-the-dot. The theme was...CYCLOPS! ...so I paired that with my current craving to draw weird aliens. Used an inky papermate pen on one of those 5x7(ish) notepads

Lighting and Color

Martian

I was running out of steam trying some crazy character painting techniques, so I decided to let loose and do a messy environment. Quick one, but spent about an hour failing to find a good place for a creature/predator in the scene...sometimes things are best left simple.

I think I'll do a handful of these environments...maybe make a digital sketchbook of them.
